About

I'm a Technical Product Manager at Gentex Corporation, where I own the customer-facing software for PLACE, Gentex's first B2C product: a smart smoke and CO detection system.

Before product management, I spent eight years as an embedded systems engineer at DornerWorks, shipping firmware for medical devices. That background shapes how I work: I can read a schematic, understand a sprint, and still write a PRD that a designer actually wants to use.

For this product, there was no PM playbook, no analytics infrastructure, no user research practice, and no process for cross-functional alignment. Over two years I've built all of it from zero while setting priorities for a 20-person team across mobile, cloud, embedded, and UX.

The case studies on this site aren't organized by project. They're organized by type of PM work, because that's how I think about what I've actually done: I've been a data PM, a discovery PM, a GTM strategist, an AI tooling builder, and a culture-change agent. Sometimes all in the same quarter.

I'm based in Grand Rapids, MI. Before engineering, I studied Screen Arts and Cultures at UMich — which turns out to be surprisingly useful for writing product narratives.
